A cardboard box or a Louis Vuitton?

Alright.  You're just going to have to give me a moment while I get all philosophical...today is just one of those days.  If you've seen this blog before, I hope you've noticed the quote just to the left of my posts: "don't let your luggage dictate your travels."  I heard it originally when Slam Poet Shane Koyczan  performed the poem "We Are More" during the opening ceremonies at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. It was brilliant.  Canadians must have been bursting with pride all over the place because it really was a beautifully spoken love letter to their country. This particular line, however, became wedged in my head and the more I let it marinate, the more I appreciated it. Perhaps he's saying don't let all your preconceived notions close your mind and heart off to what there is to see & experience. Have an open mind and a good attitude. It could also mean where you've been doesn't have to dictate where you can go. Travel is like that for me.  It's a new perspective, a fresh start, a re-boot.  Every time I go somewhere...anywhere, I come back a little different - I've learned something new, I've met someone new, I've looked at the world with different eyes.  Maybe that's why I love it so much.  Here's the poem in it's entirety: We Are More by Shane Koyczan.
